Internal Medicine & Pediatrics | Epidemiology | Biostatistics | Medical Education
Professional Overview
My professional background combines clinical training in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics with advanced education and experience in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, and medical education.
Throughout my career, I have developed a particular interest in the intersection of clinical medicine, scientific evidence, and medical decision-making. My training allows me to approach complex medical questions from both a clinical and analytical perspective, considering not only the circumstances of an individual case but also the quality and applicability of the evidence informing medical decisions.
As an Internal Medicine–Pediatrics physician, I bring a broad clinical perspective encompassing medical care across the lifespan, from infancy through adulthood. My additional background in epidemiology and biostatistics strengthens my ability to critically evaluate research methodology, interpret statistical findings, and assess the scientific evidence supporting clinical recommendations.
I welcome opportunities to apply this combined expertise through independent physician review, medical-legal consulting, and professional evaluation of clinical and scientific evidence.
Areas of Professional Expertise
Independent Physician Review & Clinical Assessment
My clinical training and experience provide a foundation for the objective evaluation of medical records, clinical documentation, and healthcare decision-making.
My areas of interest include:
Independent Medical Record Review: Evaluation of medical histories, diagnostic findings, treatment decisions, and clinical outcomes.
Clinical Peer Review: Assessment of clinical decision-making and quality of care in relation to applicable professional standards.
Medical Necessity Review: Evaluation of the clinical justification for diagnostic testing, treatments, procedures, and healthcare services.
Utilization Review: Assessment of healthcare services in relation to clinical evidence, established guidelines, and applicable review criteria.
Quality-of-Care Assessment: Evaluation of clinical practices, documentation, and adherence to evidence-based recommendations.
I believe meaningful medical review requires careful consideration of the clinical circumstances, available information, and accepted standards at the time decisions were made.
My goal is to provide thorough, impartial evaluations grounded in sound clinical reasoning and scientific evidence.
Medical-Legal Consulting
I am interested in working with attorneys and legal professionals who require independent medical analysis involving adult or pediatric medicine.
My areas of professional interest include medical record analysis, evaluation of clinical decision-making, assessment of applicable standards of care, and interpretation of medical literature relevant to complex clinical questions.
Potential consulting services include:
Medical record review and case chronology development
Evaluation of diagnostic and treatment decisions
Assessment of applicable medical standards of care
Analysis of clinical documentation and medical evidence
Identification and critical appraisal of relevant medical literature
Clinical consultation involving Internal Medicine and Pediatrics
I approach medical-legal questions with an emphasis on objectivity, professional independence, and evidence-based analysis.
My responsibility in any professional review is to evaluate the available medical information fairly and communicate my findings clearly, regardless of the interests of the requesting party.
Epidemiology, Biostatistics & Scientific Evidence Review
My Master of Public Health training and professional experience in epidemiology and biostatistics have provided a strong foundation in the critical evaluation of medical research.
I have a particular interest in examining how scientific evidence is generated, interpreted, and applied to clinical practice.
My areas of expertise include:
Critical appraisal of medical literature
Evaluation of research design and methodology
Interpretation of statistical analyses and clinical research findings
Assessment of bias, confounding, and methodological limitations
Evaluation of the strength and generalizability of scientific evidence
Application of population-level research findings to individual clinical circumstances
I recognize that published research must be evaluated within the context of its methodology, limitations, and clinical relevance.
My combined background in clinical medicine and quantitative research allows me to assess not only what a study concludes, but also whether its findings adequately support those conclusions and how they may apply to real-world medical decisions.
Clinical & Academic Qualifications
Clinical Medicine
I am an Internal Medicine–Pediatrics physician and a board-certified pediatrician with training in the diagnosis, treatment, and longitudinal management of medical conditions across the lifespan.
My clinical experience includes preventive medicine, acute and chronic disease management, and comprehensive care for patients of varying ages and medical complexity.
Public Health & Research
I hold a Master of Public Health degree and have professional experience in epidemiology, biostatistics, academic teaching, and research consultation.
My previous work includes epidemiology and biostatistics consultation associated with the University of Alabama at Birmingham, as well as teaching in public health and related disciplines.
This background has strengthened my ability to evaluate complex scientific information and communicate research findings in a clinically meaningful manner.
Medical Education
I serve as an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM–Auburn) and as a clinical preceptor for medical students from the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine.
My academic work emphasizes clinical reasoning, evidence-based medicine, critical thinking, and the development of sound medical judgment.
Teaching future physicians also reinforces the importance of remaining current with medical literature, evaluating clinical evidence critically, and approaching complex medical questions systematically.
My Professional Approach
I believe credible medical consulting requires more than clinical knowledge alone. It requires intellectual honesty, methodological rigor, professional independence, and the ability to distinguish established evidence from assumptions or uncertainty.
In evaluating a medical case, I consider the clinical information available, the relevant medical literature, and the circumstances under which decisions were made.
I recognize that medical care often involves uncertainty and that clinical decisions should be evaluated in the context of the information reasonably available at the time, rather than solely through the lens of subsequent outcomes.
My approach is grounded in three principles:
Objectivity: Providing independent evaluations based on medical facts, applicable standards, and available scientific evidence.
Scientific Integrity: Critically examining the quality, limitations, and clinical relevance of medical information.
Clear Communication: Presenting complex clinical and scientific findings in a manner that is accurate, understandable, and useful to the intended professional audience.
Whether evaluating a clinical case, reviewing scientific literature, or considering a medical-legal question, my commitment is to provide thoughtful, evidence-based analysis supported by sound professional judgment.

I welcome inquiries from attorneys, healthcare organizations, physician review companies, and other professionals seeking expertise in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, epidemiology, biostatistics, or medical evidence evaluation.
